What does our Water and Habitat Department do in Syria:

Since the start of the Syria conflict in 2011, a substantial part of the country’s water and sanitation infrastructures have been damaged or destroyed. The ICRC Water and Habitat department jointly with Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) Water and Rehabilitation team increasingly found it vital to stabilize & strengthen the resilience of the main central water supply systems in Damascus, Homs, Hama, Tartus, Lattakia, Aleppo & Hassakeh cities including the critical infrastructures through the ‘Too Big to Fail’ program (TBtF), and provide support to water service providers, including repairs and rehabilitation works that enabled the delivery of potable water for millions of people.

Moreover, strong capacity has been developed in most Water and Habitat fields: Water, Sanitation, Power supply, Shelter, Health structures, Forensics, Schools, Bakeries, and Irrigation to help people in need.
