We warmly invite you to mark this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence by joining us for an event titled “Forced to Report? Understanding the Humanitarian Impact of Mandatory Reporting”, co-hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the British Red Cross (BRC).
This half-day hybrid event builds on the global expertise developed over the last four years since the ICRC and BRC first published its 2020 multicounty study on the humanitarian consequences legal and/or policy requirements that oblige healthcare workers to report cases of sexual and gender-based violence to law enforcement, often without consent of the affected adult (also known as mandatory reporting).
Over the course of three expert panels, we will bring together policymakers and practitioners to review the existing evidence base, analyze the different legal and law enforcement approaches, and better understand how mandatory reporting may unintentionally complicate safe access to healthcare for victims and survivors in humanitarian settings.
Join us as we explore these critical questions with experts from across the gender, health, legal, and law enforcement fields, sharing insights that will be invaluable for anyone who is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of victims and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
Kindly note that French and Arabic interpretation will be provided online via Zoom for those who request it through the registration link.
We look forward to welcoming you!
