Climate action in conflict and fragile settings: closing the implementation gap

Communities in conflict-affected areas are direly impacted by growing climate risks and shocks. Over the last few years, political will to strengthen climate action in these settings has been growing. Commitments need to be urgently translated into tangible outcomes for communities โ€“ and avenues to do so exist.

๐Ÿ“‘ New Case Alert | G5 Sahel Joint Force: Implementing a Compliance Framework for Civilian Protection

Our latest case study, published on IHL in Action website, examines how the G5 Sahel Joint Force established a Compliance Framework to align military operations with international humanitarian and human rights laws. This framework, created in collaboration with the United Nations and other partners, includes the Civilian Casualties Identification, Tracking, and Analysis Cell (CITAC), launched in 2021 to monitor and address incidents impacting civilians. This case demonstrates the steps taken by the G5 Sahel Joint Force to protect civilians and maintain accountability during operations in a challenging conflict environment.
